Graduate Loans

Finding funding for graduate study can be an arduous chore. For most of you, you need to check with the school you are applying to in order to determine what funding is available to you. Of course, there are student loans. A graduate student can borrow as much as $18,500 through the Federal Stafford loan program. However, I'm sure you'd rather find free sources of funding.

A couple recommendations:

Contact your school's graduate admissions office and ask about the availability of assistantships and/or tuition remission.

If you have to borrow, borrow only what you need.
Find out how much your monthly payments might be when borrowing varying amounts.
Keep in mind the salary you expect to earn and those payments in your foremost thoughts as you sign your promissory note or accept a financial aid offer.
